It is one of the more popular fruits in the world, but why? In one grapefruit, we can find just 52 calories, 13 grams of carbohydrates in the form of natural complex sugars and dietary fiber, and absolutely zero grams of cholesterol, sodium, and fat. This is quite the low calorie food as well as a fruit that is going to give you efficient nutrient intake. The low calorie content is just one of many reasons why we see the grapefruit as one of the pillars in popular dieting plans. The classic diet of a grapefruit, a hard boiled egg, and a cup of coffee for breakfast each day has been known to improve weight loss outcomes tenfold in those who have tried it.

If you eat just one half of a grapefruit per day, you will be given a substantial amount of your daily recommended values of all types of vitamins. Overall, the grapefruit has the power to play a role in so many different aspects of improving our health. The ideal time for farms to be producing quality grapefruit is ironically in the winter, but they are good all year round and should be considered as an important part of our diets.
