The 4 Popular Foods You Should Never Eat Again

We’ve all got that one thing that we absolutely cannot stand to eat. Even those who claim they eat “everything” have that one thing that they simply cannot stomach. I’ve never been a picky eater. In fact, I myself claim to be an eater of just about anything and everything. However, if you stick a tomato anywhere near anything I’m consuming, you’ll see me running for the hills.corn

Now, many of us don’t like certain things, simply because of taste, smell or texture, and not necessarily because it contains ingredients that have been in connection with dangerous and harmful chemical or deadly illnesses like cancer. Well, the new age is upon us, and the picky eaters are coming out of the woodwork. Now, many people are choose-y about what they eat because of pesticides, genetically modified organisms, animal cruelty and the like; and rightly so. So that being said, what are some popular foods that even the food experts around the world wont touch for reasons other than taste?

Even if you’re not pregnant, looking to avoid mercury in the fish you eat should be a big priority. Along with tuna, swordfish is notoriously high in this dangerously heavy metal. High levels of neurotoxins in the fish are damaging developing children and even triggering heart attacks in many adults.

On the environmental side of this dangerous fish, eating it is being more and more debated and frowned upon because the ways in which these large fish are caught. In the process, the fishermen are often endangering many other animals in the ocean such as turtles, seabirds, and sharks.

Opting for fish such as wild-caught Alaskan salmon or Atlantic mackerel gives great taste as well as all of the healthy omega-3s in other types of unhealthy fish.

Diet Soda
Seen as the healthy alternative to regular high sugar content soda, diet soda has long since been cast as the better option. In actuality, diet soda is still bad for overall health. Many diet drinks are loaded with artificial sweeteners such as sucralose, aspartame, and neotame, to name just a few. These chemical compounds that make up the artificial flavorings in these drinks are known to be unhealthy, and many of their effects are still yet to be determined. Overloading on diet drinks to replace regular caffeinated sugary sodas isn’t doing your health any favors.

Looking for a zero calorie, all around healthy option? Try green tea or water. All of the health benefits, with none of the dangerous chemicals or sugars.

Canned Tomatoes
I’m glad to see this on the list, as now I have a justification for my dislike of the fruit. Sadly, the biggest health hazard with these canned tomatoes is the resin lining within the cans themselves. With BPA’s running rampant, many of them have been found in canned tomatoes, and the contamination rate of these foods is skyrocketing because of it. These dangerous chemicals are linked to diabetes, heart disease and obesity to name a few. Fresh is always the healthier, smarter way to go than eating anything canned.

Mass-produced in fields, to keep them growing strong, corn is sprayed relentlessly with pesticides that have adverse effects on the health of anyone who consumes it on a regular basis. Most of the corn purchased in grocery stores, especially that which comes in a can, is genetically modified and dangerous to health in some way. Look to grow your own or buy organic to avoid any risks.
