What is your body telling you? Are you listening to the signs that your body gives you? Our bodies are wonderful machines, but like all machines, they need maintenance and up-keep. This means paying attention to all the signs and symptoms that our bodies give us. Chiropractic care focuses on keeping your nervous system up and running like a well-oiled machine! Your chiropractor will ‘listen’ to the signs that your body is giving and by adjusting subluxations, will help you along the way to optimal health without the use of drugs.
There are a few clues that you can look out for to decipher some of the signs of deeper imbalances that let us know that something is amiss in our systems. Read on to discover a few common symptoms.
A quick warning sign? Dry chapped lips. Less water in your body means less water in your skin, and as our lips are the most delicate skin on our bodies, they are extra sensitive when we are dehydrated. Other signals include frequent urination, yellow urine and headaches. People often mistake hunger for thirst, so drink a glass of water before you reach for that snack. Stay hydrated by drinking water, herbal teas and eating foods that have a high water content throughout the day.
You Need More Fiber
How can you tell? You may have digestive issues or feel constipated. When you are lacking in fiber, waste materials may become difficult to pass; you’re leaving your body at risk for more than just an uncomfortable feeling. If you don’t have regular bowel movements, toxins that you would otherwise excrete may leach back into the body causing a wide number of problems with your digestion, skin, heart and brain. Other symptoms of constipation include frequent hunger pangs, mood swings, skin problems and inflammatory conditions. A diet rich in fiber that is found in fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains are key components in keeping things, well, moving!
You’re Drinking Too Much Caffeine
An interesting warning sign? You’re lethargic and fatigued. You may be getting that quick boost to your already low reserves of energy, but overdoing it on the caffeine may leave your central nervous system exhausted. If you rely on caffeine for your energy constantly, you’ll soon find yourself suffering from the jitters, feeling agitated, and suffering from insomnia and anxiety. Limit your caffeine intake and restore your body with sleep, relaxation, and nutrients.
These are just a few symptoms that signal to us that we are not quite on the right track. Learning to listen to the warning signs takes a little time, but with practice, you’ll be on your way to better health in no time!
